Art Institute of St. Louis To Open in St. Charles
The Art Institute of St. Louis, a branch of the The Art Institutes, will open July 9 as part of the Streets of St. Charles project, a $385 million mixed-use development that includes 1.5 million square feet of retail, dining, entrainment and residential space.
The school will occupy approximately 33,800 square feet of the new center. Brinkmann Constructors is the contractor for the project, and Cullinan Properties is the property manger.
David Hofmann, campus director of The Art Institute of St. Louis, said the school will move into the new space in mid-May in order to be ready for the summer opening. Hofmann would not disclose the exact building costs, but he said it was a “sizable investment.” A typical art institute location has an average enrollment of more than 1,000 students, he said.
The Art Institute of St. Louis will offer Bachelor of Arts degree programs in culinary management, digital filmmaking and video production, digital photography, fashion marketing, graphic and Web design and interior design. The institute will also offer Associate of Applied Science degree programs in culinary arts and graphic and Web design.
The Art Institutes is part of Pittsburgh-based Education Management Corp., one of the largest providers of private, post-secondary education in North America. The Art Institute of St. Louis is one of 50 Art Institutes locations and its first in Missouri.
