Construction: $10 Million Permit Filed for Downtown Apartments

A seven-figure building permit was filed for a new apartment building near the Wolf River Harbor in Downtown Memphis.

The permit, valued at more than $9.8 million, was submitted Aug. 25, 2016, for the future Uptown Flats, a 155-unit complex that will be developed by Nashville-based Elmington Capital Group (ECG) LLC.

Shapiro & Co. was listed as the architect, and Patton & Taylor Enterprises LLC was listed as the contractor. The Uptown Flats are planned for a parcel at 645 N. Main St.

A variance to increase the district’s maximum apartment density requirement per-acre was submitted to the Memphis and Shelby County Board of Adjustment in June to allow for the 155-unit complex.

ECG LLC is also developing the 195-unit Patterson Flats at the corner of G.E. Patterson Ave. and Hernando Street. A $ 14.56 million permit was submitted for that project in June.
